The surest means of eradication is prevention. One view of prevention is plainly a reduction in the 1 in 8 incidence rate in the developed western world. In United States and International (PCT) patent applications, Signe proposes using "oral immunization" to reduce the risk of cancer causing mutations in breast cells. Immunity is transferred from the gut to the breast via the secretory immune system. This strategy is based on the fact that breast cancer incidence is lowest in areas of the world where oral immune challenges are common and highest in the western countries where similar challenges are greatly restricted. The concept that we are "too clean" will be applied to reduce the current western risk of breast cancer to the 1 in 50 or 1 in 100 rates of the non-western world. In another view, prevention can mean full eradication worldwide. To achieve this, the suspected infectious agents responsible for the development of breast cancer will be sought and "oral" immunizations developed similar to the Sabin oral vaccine for the poliomyelitis virus. Immunization methods have been used worldwide to eradicate human diseases. This same attack is expected to bring an end to breast cancer and prostate cancer.
